Love On

Use

“This week you may find opportunities where you can reach out to someone and love on them. Just Love On Them.”

Used as thought the action of sharing love was like the sharing whip cream. The emphasis on not holding back and being generous. Really load on the dollops, there is plenty to go around.

Usually in reference to those in unfortuate circumstances. Also, subtly encouraging christians to show off their capacity to care for the meak or in other words let it shine.

Meaning

v. 1. To share sympathy, empathy with people for their situation.

2. To show people love in the spirit of loving your neighbour.

Christianese as a Second Language

Welcome, the intent of this site is to familliarize the average person surfing the web with the jargon of the christian church; and create a space for those who are familiar with it to explain the sometimes vague language of Christianese.

The intent of WikiCanaan is to break down the some of the barriers around christianity that make it a sepperate culture from 'The World'. Often the Language used in Christian circles is, intentionally or not, exclusive. The nature of the articles are mostly sarcastic and ironic, but in by no means are they meant to be caustic. It is important to remember when reading, that these articles are the interpretations of contributers and so should not be taken out of context.

A notable amount of Christianese expressions are already defined in the Wikipedia.

The World

Pronounciation

(thuh wuurld). Low stress on the vowel sound, simillar to how, when recounting a ghost story, one would pronounce a potentially dangerous characters name.

Etymology

biblical. Often used by Jesus. “If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. Because you do not belong to the world, but i have chosen you out of the world- therefore the world hates you.” (John 15,19)

Meaning

- n. The people and culture outside the church, usually counter Christian culture.

Often incinuating a mentality of 'us and them,' or a warning to separate yourself from the World because it has perverting effects.

There are many ways in which the world can tempt a christian sex, drugs, rock'n'roll… in the modern world popular culture is usually the most aggressive agent for drawing christian into the world. In the 50's and 60's the battle between the church and the world was especially apparent.

They were pro-drugs, pro-evolution, and pro-promiscuous sex; anti christ and more… Rock music is a negation of the soul, spirit and mind, and is destructive to the body… The muscles are weakend, the heartbeat is affected, and the adrenal glands and sex hormones are upset by continued listening… It's also been shown that rock music destroys house plants.
